Enter two dates to see how many days are between them, with the equivalent in weeks and months.

Counting the days between dates

Finding the number of days between two dates is one of the most common planning tasks, behind everything from project timelines to travel itineraries to counting down a pregnancy. The arithmetic is straightforward once leap years are handled correctly.

This tool counts every calendar day, weekends included, and also shows the span in weeks and approximate months. Months are inherently fuzzy because they vary in length, so the month figure uses an average and should be read as a close estimate.

If you need only working days, weekends excluded, use the business days calculator instead, which is the right tool for shipping windows, payroll periods, and contractual deadlines.

The formula

days = | endDate - startDate |, then weeks = days / 7

Worked example

From Jan 1 to Dec 31 of the same year is 364 days, about 52 weeks.

How to read your result

This counts calendar days, including weekends. For working days only, use the Business Days Calculator.
